Entry-Level Fire Alarm Technician

Job Description:
The Entry Level Fire Alarm Technician is to deliver quality products and services which meet or exceed customer and industry standards, and to achieve customer satisfaction through a unified commitment to job competency and unsurpassed service.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist with routine service as assigned (includes replacing detectors, changing flex loops, replacing initiators, replacing manual pull stations, etc.)
Assist with routine maintenance and inspection of engineered systems. Including Halon, Industrial Dry Chemical, Clean Agents, and CO2's. Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation
Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, etc., to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions. Repair circuits and sensors
Assist with panel replacements when necessary. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, etc., and attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components
Read/follow blueprints, electrical layouts and building plans. Able to determine materials required for jobs
Feed wires/cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach outlets
Adjust sensitivity of units based on room structures and manufacturer's recommendations, using programmable keypads
Keep informed of new products and developments. Attend in-house training sessions and manufacturers' training as assigned and/or required
Accurately complete and return all field paperwork on time, including calling in times worked daily
Be available for off-hour emergency service calls and the on-call schedule assigned
Report all accidents, mishaps and/or customer complaints immediately
Keep company issued vehicle clean, neat, and organized. Return unused parts and equipment to the warehouse upon completion of job
Work cooperatively with other departments within the company and with fellow coworkers
Interface with customers to explain work to be performed, answer their questions and address their concerns in a knowledgeable and respectful manner
Provide accurate and complete information on reports and quotes
Manage time including time on the job as well as time on road to job sites
Return all tools, equipment and unused products and materials along with the appropriate paperwork to the warehouse/shed upon the completion of the job
Requirements:
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Advanced Technical School Training
Experience
Required: Mechanical aptitude
Preferred: 1-3 years related experience
Licensing
Valid driver's license with clean driving record required

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Proficient in basic computer skills
Demonstrate problem-solving skills
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Able to interact with all levels being served. Represent the company in a professional, credible manner in speech, written communications and appearance

Be flexible by adjusting interpersonal approaches appropriate to the manager/employee
Must pass random substance abuse tests
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) without a break
Position requires bending, twisting, stooping, climbing
Must be able to lift 10-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Position requires pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally
May be exposed to temperature changes, small spaces and confined spaces
Ability to distinguish colors and use hands for repetitive fine manipulation frequently



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
